Calling all actors and back stage crew for open auditions!

This summer The Brewhouse are calling all young people aged between 15 - 25 to get involved with the Main House summer production of The Taming Of The Shrew. Open auditions will take place at The Brewhouse on Sunday 6 and Monday 7 June.

If you fancy yourself as the next Olivier Award Winner and you want the chance to be in the spotlight on stage, come along, audition and have fun.

It's not just actors that we need. We need people behind the scenes too, so if you see yourself as the next Stephen Spielberg or in any back stage role for that matter, and you need a helping hand to get you on your way, this is the chance for you. We are looking for a back stage team comprising of a shadow Technical Team, shadow Producer, shadow Director shadow Costume Designer and a shadow Set Designer

Each open audition session will last for three hours, just choose which time is more convenient to you. Auditions run from 10am - 1pm, 2pm - 5pm on Sunday and 6pm - 9pm on Monday. Both actors and shadows will take part in a group workshop and afterwards there will be chance for actors to perform an individual pre-prepared Shakespeare monologue which should be between 10 and 14 lines long. After the workshop, people interested in back stage roles will be asked in for an interview. Further details of the auditions and information regarding how to register, will be updated on our website. Keep checking back here every now and then for more information.

The Taming Of The Shrew is staged on The Brewhouse Main Stage from Wednesday 18 -Saturday 21 August and is directed by Robin Belfield from the National Theatre. The Taming Of The Shrew tells the story of  the Minola sisters who are the talk of Padua, Italy. Beautiful Bianca is the name on every man's lips, but she is forbidden to have any lovers until her older sister Kate gets married. Kate on the other hand is less attractive to potential suitors as she is a  law unto herself, feisty and free-spirited. It is an unending marriage stale-mate, that is, until the boisterous swaggerer Petruchio rides into town...

Rehearsals for The Taming Of The Shrew will begin on Monday 2 until Tuesday 17 August. Performances will be Wednesday 18 - Saturday 21 August, with an additional rehearsed reading of The Tamer Tamed on Sunday 22 August.

If you want to get involved, we hope to see you at the auditions. If you don't want to get involved but you know someone who might, please forward this email on to them.
