Arts Award

Arts Award is a national qualification which recognises how young people develop as artists and arts leaders.

Young people ages 11-25 can gain qualifications on levels 1, 2 and 3 on the national qualifications framework.

Arts award advisers support young people to achieve the award. Advisers can be a teacher,teaching assistant, visiting artist or another member of staff who regularly works with young people.

 How Spaeda can help

Spaeda deliver one day adviser training in Somerset. If you want to train more than eight people, in-house adviser training can also be arranged.

Please note: Adviser training is booked and paid for through the Arts Award website. It is not eligible for a discount under the Spaeda membership scheme

Gold top-up adviser training 

20 September 2010 – Exeter

This course is for trained bronze and silver Arts Award advisers who want to top up their knowledge and skills so they're ready to run the award at Gold level.

At this training course, you will:

  • Get familiar with the assessment criteria and framework for the Gold Arts Award
  • Meet other professionals who are planning to run the Arts Award in a wide variety of settings
  • Get the chance to explore case studies and examples of Gold level work
  • Ask questions and consider how the Arts Award may work for you in your particular setting.

Overview for managers

 21 October 2010 – Exeter

 This course is aimed at those who are planning to oversee or manage an Arts Award project, or organise fundraising for one. You do not need to have any previous experience of the Arts Award to take this course.

 At this training course, you will:

  • Get familiar with the framework of the Arts Award
  • Meet other professionals who are considering offering the Arts Award in a variety of settings
  • Understand the benefits of the Arts Award and how it fits into other initiatives and policies
  • Understand the practical aspects of running the Arts Award
  • Ask your questions about how Arts Award works in your particular setting.
  • Get an adviser toolkit, which details what is required at each level of the Arts Award

 This course gives you a strong foundation of knowledge to plan for your organisation's Arts Award programme.

 Please note that if there are no trained Arts Award advisers working with you, you will also need to book your nominated individual(s) onto a Bronze or Silver adviser training course.
