Forkbeard Fantasy, the celebrated Theatre, Film & Animation Company, are offering two six-day residential courses in 2010.
Discover new ways of working in different art-forms and media at their friendly inspiring creative base in rural Devon.

The week-long courses enable participants to explore the wild and diverse array of techniques, technologies and art forms used in Forkbeard’s multi-media stage, film and exhibition work:

• Film and Video, 16mm and DVD, lighting and camera skills, Final Cut Pro, compositing, editing, projection systems and surfaces
• Animation in all its myriad 2D and 3D forms, including pixilation and blue-screen mixes
• At all times there’s a lively emphasis on demystifying technology and making it work for you the artist
• Prop-making, casting, constructing, modelling, mechanics, puppetry with numerous materials and fabrics
• Sound recording, mixing and its place in other artforms
• Performing with and in and out of film, in installations and extreme situations as well as FF’s trademark Crossing the Celluloid Divide
• Working with others or on your own … developing unexpected cross-over’s and hybrids of art forms, with concentration on experimentation, entertainment and humour

We encourage a wide mix of interests and skills. Previous Schools have included: prop-makers, designers, teachers, visual and performance artists, filmmakers, editors, animators, performers, engineers, technicians, students, architects, writers, and puppeteers. The only requirement is that applicants must be over 18.

“I found the Forkbeard team incredibly generous in sharing ideas and techniques”

“….the atmosphere and FF’s supportive teaching methods combine to make you feel like trying anything. Nothing seems out of reach”
