13th Appledore Visual Arts Festival

The annual Appledore Visual Arts Festival is one of the South West's major arts events, now in its 13th year, the Festival has developed a strong reputation for offering a broad ranging programme of events and workshops for people of all ages.  With a theme of ‘Coastlines’, this years Festival is a contemporary celebration of North Devon's coast as an area of world class natural beauty.  

This family friendly event showcases some of the best of the regions visual arts.  Over four days in early June, visitors can experience exhibitions, workshops, artist’s talks, contemporary crafts, film shorts, open gardens, live music and an artists trail.   This year has some exciting events including; ‘Out of Hand’ an exhibition of some of the best contemporary crafts from University College Falmouth graduates and the premiere of ‘Above & Below The Waves’ an amazing knitted installation created by Alison Murray.   Internationally celebrated sculptor Heather Jansch will be present as will Martin Rowson the acclaimed Guardian cartoonist. 

Appledore is a beautiful and historic village with winding streets and fabulous views.  The Festival offers opportunities for everyone to experience the Visual Arts in its many exciting forms so come along and join in with the festivities !.
